Sliding into the spring season, senior Jaden Smith is bringing the heat. Smith will finish out his senior year back on the field, for the third season of his HT baseball career. But his time playing baseball didn’t start here. For the past 13 years Jaden Smith has lived and breathed the sport. Whether that was playing on travel teams throughout the year, high school fall ball, or the regular varsity season, Smith is always out on the field.

Smith is known for his leadership skills, speed, defense and being a solid line-drive hitter. Some highlights from last season that he is hoping to beat this year include a .319 batting average, 14 RBI’s, seven stolen bases, and one home run. That home run was by far the most memorable career stat for Smith.

“Hitting my first home run during our team trip to North Carolina was a crazy feeling,” said Smith, excited and ready for more this coming season.

Seniors usually leave behind some sort of legacy for young, prospering players.

“I have left the importance of working hard to accomplish goals and to beat the odds,” said Smith

Not only is Smith leaving behind some inspiration for younger teammates, but one of those teammates happens to be his little brother, Brevin Smith. Being a seventh grader, Brevin is at the start of the HT baseball program.

“I hate to say it but if Brevin keeps working hard, he’s going to be better than me. He is my biggest competition,” said Smith.

His baseball career doesn’t stop under the lights on Holy Trinity Drive.

“I have two offers; Alcorn State and Clark-Atlanta University,” said Smith.

As spring baseball season begins, Jaden Smith will continue to be recruited by various schools that would kill to have him contribute his abilities and skills at the collegiate level.
