The girls varsity soccer team had a rough couple of games last week. They lost 0-7 in a game against West Shore on Tuesday.

“We played a really great first half, and we didn’t give up. It was 0-0 until half-time, and then they scored three really quick goals,” said sophomore Julia McCarthy.

McCarthy feels that after the other team scored, it got into her team’s head and caused them to not give one hundred percent.

Unfortunately, this was also the case on Friday in a game against Satellite, where they lost 0-3.

“Next time I definitely think we need to work on always giving 100 percent no matter the score, no matter what happens,” sophomore Kailey Dunne said.

This loss especially disheartening because it just so happened to be the team’s senior night. The two seniors that were being recognized that night were Savannah “Savvy” Olivas and Lily Rugar.

Hopefully, the team can come back this week on a high note for their district game this Tuesday (1/23) vs. John Carroll. If they win that game, they will qualify for the district finals on Friday (1/26)  at. Saint Edward’s.
