Holy Trinity’s varsity baseball team is up and coming into the new season. With 15 players on the team, and a couple of new additions to the program, this year’s team is looking like very dangerous competition.

With six new players, it can be hard to get in to a winning rhythm at the start of the season since the bond between the players hasn’t fully formed. But, this team has begun to prove otherwise. On their opening game on February 20 against St. Edwards the Tigers defeated the Pirates 10-0, and on their game this past Friday during break against Space Coast, the team won 13-2 showing just a little of what is to come in the future.

“We have a lot of new talented guys that are a huge asset to the team. We all work well together and our chemistry is really strong” says sophomore, pitcher and first baseman, Pedro Gonzalez.

The team is hoping to come back from last year’s record of 14-10 and already has goals involving districts. One of the team captain’s, senior Jaden Smith, who has been playing on varsity his entire Holy Trinity career, has high aspirations for the team and some ideas on how to be successful during the season.

“I’m looking forward to embracing the leadership role on the team.We have to attack our flaws as a team in practice and believe in ourselves even when others don’t,” says Smith.

The boys team is off to a great start and their season is looking up, so good luck to them and go Tigers!
