After capturing their fourth straight district title in a big rivalry game against West Shore, and a regional quarterfinal win against FAU High, the boy’s varsity soccer team is one step closer to their goal of making it to the state championship. The boy’s 3-2 win over West Shore gained the number two seed in the regional playoffs, allowing them to host the regional quarterfinal match where they defeated FAU High 5-0. Late goals from junior Grant Shoultz and junior Aidan Bovelsky pushed their lead and gave the boys confidence going into the regional semifinal match. “Winning 5-0 definitely boosted our confidence going into the regional semifinals because at the beginning of the season, we struggled to score but recently we have been scoring left and right,” said Bovelsky.

In the regional semifinal, they faced Crescent City, who they defeated 5-2, allowing them to earn a spot in the regional finals for the second year in a row. A strong postseason run with multiple high-scoring matches has given the boys confidence going into the regional finals, where they fell just short last year. “We are excited to go back to the regional finals again this year and we are hoping to win this time. We are confident going into the match because we know that this team is going to be more difficult than some of the other teams that we have faced but we are ready for them,” said junior Andrew Turner.

The boys will travel to Trinity Prep to play in the regional finals on Wednesday, February 15.
