Starting her seventh year at Holy Trinity, Nurse Emily Diaz has done everything from handing out bandaids and treating more serious injuries to making sure students’ daily medications are distributed.
Before Nurse Emily came to work at Holy Trinity she was a Charge nurse where her job was to get patients ready for discharge.
For the first couple weeks of school, Nurse Emily has been working with athletes on getting their physicals and clearances completed for sports.
“I do a lot of stuff with the Department of Health making sure people are eligible to come to school every year,” Nurse Emily said.
Nurse Emily’s after-school agenda includes making sure her kids are where they need to be for their activities. Her oldest children take part in school activities including Orff and cheerleading, and she picks up her five-month-old.
Every two years Nurse Emily must renew her nursing license. The renewal includes about 26 hours of continual education on her topic of study which is nursing.
One of her favorite things about working at Holy Trinity is seeing all the students every day and
being able to chat with them.
“We have some juice, we tell some jokes, and we get back to what we need to do,” Nurse Emily said.
