After 10 years of being a volleyball coach, Kylie Kutzner is bringing her knowledge and experience to the Holy Trinity volleyball program as its new head coach. After previously being the head coach at Edgewood Jr/Sr High School, Coach Kutzner is ready to win another district championship as a Tiger.
Kutzner graduated from Salem College in North Carolina with a degree in art history. From there, Kutzner became an archivist at NASA. After making the JV volleyball team in just eighth grade, Kutzner knew volleyball was always going to be a part of her life. “The mentors I had growing up and the fact that it was a really easy transitioning from playing to coaching,” Kutzner says, was her main reason for becoming a volleyball coach.
What attracted Kutzner to Holy Trinity was the esteem of the program and the talent of the students that played here. “Being able to be taught by Pete Klonowski was a really big selling point for me,” Kutzner said. However, this year had some more things in store than everyone, especially Kutzner, was expecting.
After her first couple weeks back as the new assistant head coach, she got hit with some unexpected news that Coach Klonowski was stepping down, leading her to become the new head coach at Holy Trinity. “It was very unexpected,” Kutzner said.
“My biggest goal for this season is to win another district championship and go even further than we have in the past,” Kutzner said.
“I think I am experienced, and maybe bring a new perspective to the table that previous coaches didn’t,” Kutzner said. Kutzner can’t wait to watch the girls grow and see how much better they get by the end of the season. To Kutzner, it’s all about being able to build good relationships with the girls, which in her words “is a little easier for a female coach,” Kutzner said.
Kutzner is looking forward to an amazing season and many seasons to come. “One of my biggest goals is to just make the seniors’ last year great,” Kutzner said. “Let’s win another district championship!” Kutzner exclaimed.
