Freshman Luke Daigler is one of the many who are able to pull off competing for a varsity soccer team, along with maintaining an impressive GPA. Daigler knows what it’s like to be the top dog in the classroom and on the field. Daigler has been playing soccer for as long as he can remember, but the real question is, how is he able to live this perfect student-athlete life without crumbling down with all the stress?
“Soccer is a part of me, and I really couldn’t imagine a life without it,”He said. Daigler really fell in love with the game and decided it was an amazing way to exercise and do what he does best. “I feel like playing this sport at such a high level at my age can be hard, especially with my parents’ expectations towards school,” Daigler said. “Discipline is my secret on how I live my life so well balanced, and sometimes I have to sacrifice hanging out with friends and sleeping over so I can catch up on something I missed last week in school while at a soccer game.”
However, he had even more advice on how to make high school look even simpler. Daigler also believes that your diet, and amount of sleep you get every night can really be crucial to how well you want to live your life in general. “I try to avoid processed sugars and unhealthy junk foods which can make me feel weak and unprepared for my long days at work,” Daigler advised. Lack of sleep also made him feel lazy and work-shy, so he claims that extra hours of sleep can make just that much of a difference.
Daigler was finally asked, “does discipline and diet really pay off?” He feels as if making varsity this year as a freshman was a good answer to this, and really didn’t need an explanation. Living such a well-balanced life may not be for everybody, but surely is a great fit for an overachiever like Daigler.
