Freshman Yuna Ahn’s lowest grade was 96 percent last year, and that was in P.E. She is used to getting all 100s, all of the time. What gives her the drive to push herself to succeed? As Ahn says, “My main motivation comes from my parents.” Her parents are immigrants from South Korea in Asia. She says that they push her to strive for her goals and encourage her to always come out at the top of everything that she does. This is how she has been raised to view school since an early age. Ahn looks up to her older sister, a former Holy Trinity student. Her sister graduated with honors and is now attending Purdue University to study being a veterinarian. As for Ahn, she works hard to meet her personal goals. Ahn also says that she encourages herself to study or finish assignments with her little sister, Eunice, in mind who looks up to her. Eunice is a seventh-grader at Holy Trinity.
As for Ahn, the middle child, she is known for being ahead of others her age and taking more advanced classes such as physics or AP pre-calculus. She says that it’s very helpful when teachers provide lots of study materials and resources that she can look back on when studying in order to do well. She not only likes to study using apps like Quizlet, but she also helps others to study with the materials that she creates. Unlike most students, Ahn says, “I love homework. I begin as soon as I get home at around four, so that by 6:30 I can start to study for upcoming tests or quizzes until around 10 in the evening.” This work ethic has paid off with good grades and academic achievements.
From an early age she has been a very motivated student, and has never let others get in the way of achieving her academic goals. Ahn is part of the Holy Trinity Speech and Debate Team as well as the Academic Team and the Mu Alpha Theta group on campus. Outside of academics she plays tennis to stay fit and likes to hang out with friends from school. She isn’t sure what she wants to study when she leaves high school, but whatever path she chooses one thing is for sure, she will work hard to make her dreams a reality one assignment at a time.
