As we start to get back into the groove of homework, tests, and school in general, the Holy Trinity boys lacrosse season is just getting started. The team is excited to get their season rolling and to start scoring some goals and winning some titles. With difficult teams such as Lake Mary and Viera, the hard work has already started to be put in to guarantee a good fight. As the season starts, the boys have set high expectations and goals for themselves as they try and win another title this year.
“I have been playing lacrosse for about four years now, and three years on varsity,” senior Chris Moore said. Moore is a senior this year and has set high expectations and goals for his team this year and is looking forward to winning some titles. After losing during regionals last year, Moore is looking to move on to state this season and improve as a team at the same time and grow as a player. “I’m looking forward to the Lake Highland game because we lost to them during regionals last year, and I want to beat them,” Moore said.
Many of the boys who play Holy Trinity Lacrosse, also play for different teams during the off season to continue growing in their sport. Sophomore Drew Zabinski has been involved in more than one lacrosse club. “I have been playing for Crabs Lacrosse for one year and High Tide Lacrosse for about two years now,” Zabinski said. With a total of five years of lacrosse experience, Zabinski is excited for this upcoming season and can’t wait to use what he has learned from the off season to grow and excel this season.
“My favorite part about playing lacrosse is bonding with my teammates and scoring goals,” Zabinski said.
As the season rolls around, the boys have been gearing up to face some very challenging teams this season. The biggest game that the boys lacrosse team is going to face this year is against Lake Mary, the previous state championship winners. “The Lake Mary game is definitely going to be our most challenging game this season but I think that it will be a good game,” senior Dylan Jensen said. Jensen has been playing for 4 years and specializes in defense. With so many games on the schedule, Jensen says “The game I am most looking forward to is our game against Viera because we lost to them last year on my birthday, and I think this year we have a very big chance of coming up on top.”
With all of the other things these boys have going on in their lives, the boys lacrosse team has learned how to balance their schedules. They have put an extreme amount of work into this season and have high hopes that all of that hard work will pay off. These boys will go very far this season, and hopefully continue playing into the state championships.
