While most Holy Trinity students are only familiar with Homecoming and Prom, there are many other opportunities to hold formals. Other dances such as Winter Formal or Sadies, can be held in between fall’s Homecoming and spring’s Prom since many students find two formals just not enough. An extra opportunity to dress up and have an exciting night with friends or a date is always special.
While the factor of planning and figuring out numbers may present challenges to SGA or the faculty, dances such as Winter Formal do not have to be “all out.”
These other formals could propose opportunities to raise money for a charity or Holy Trinity. With clubs and honor societies always looking for opportunities to hold events and raise money, instead of SGA planning and sponsoring the dance, another school organization could. This offers a huge opportunity for them to spread their beliefs and get other students interested, as well as earn service hours for the hard work used to plan and set up the formals.
With only juniors and seniors being able to attend Prom, that leaves the freshman and sophomores only one dance throughout the year. Being that Homecoming is early into the school year, the rest of the year the students are left with no “big” event to look forward to. These other formals can help boost students’ morale while balancing the stress of school.
Most students love the atmosphere of school when dances are soon to come. With Homecoming having spirit week and Prom having a mini spirit week, Winter Formal and Sadies can have themed days to get the students spirits high in anticipation of the dances. Two dances offer and give so much school spirit to the students, now imagine what three or four could add to the atmosphere of the hallways.
