Through the stress of back to school, homework, and tests, the Holy Trinity boys golf team has officially started their season. The team is ecstatic and ready to have fun. With strong competitors and even stronger players, the season is underway with a lot at stake for the team. Goals and expectations have been set high but these players never fail to show up and play their best game.
“Being on the team and having the opportunity to play with my best friends has been one like none other,” junior Aiden Holtkamp said. Holtkamp hopes to make it to the regional playoffs and possibly continue the season on to states. Shooting 30 on nine holes and 69 on eighteen, Holtkamp still hopes to improve and grow as a player. “Another plus side to being on the team is getting all the extra practice and going out every match with a competitive spirit in hopes to win,” Holtkamp said.
“It would be so cool to play in states, just like Andy Zhang, against some of the best teams and players,” sophomore Nate Combs said when asked about a goal of his for this year’s season. Combs has been playing golf for three years and still believes there is room for improvement and always will be. While Combs shoots a 31 on nine holes and a 70 on eighteen, he hopes to improve those scores in the near future. When asking Combs what his favorite thing about golf was he followed in Holtkamp’s footsteps, stating, “Playing golf with the boys and having fun is one of my favorite things about the game, along with getting new equipment.”
With all the studying, homework, and tests, the boys golf team knows how to balance their schedules. They give their time and effort and put in hard work to represent Holy Trinity, not only as an academic school but as an athletic school as well. These boys will go far this season and hopefully continue their journey through districts, regionals, and states.
